Your mental health is incredibly important.
If anything I share on my journey helps you in your own pursuit of happiness, in pursuit of following your dreams, in pursuit of living your one spectacular life… then that is a win for me.
A frequent question I get is what to do when faced with fear or adversity?
Action is the key to both living a life of your dreams and to beating fear
Fear, Dreams, taking Action, and Building
I have faced a lot of adversity and fear on my journey.
I quickly learned how to approach life from a mental health perspective when you are building something new or different or as you encounter challenges….
People give you hate - you thank them and keep building
People give you nothing - you thank them and keep building
People give you congratulations - you thank them and keep building
People give you love or support - you thank them and maybe give them a hug and…
You keep building!
Mistakes will happen, there is nothing more important than the combination of taking radical ownership of the mistakes and lessons and outcome, and then continuing to take action forward.
The most important thing is to keep going, to keep building. Keep taking action.
Now, if you have not yet started on that dream or that area of your life you know you want to change…..
Well then..
What I’ve learned on living the spectacular life of your dreams is pretty simple:
Whatever your dreams are, in whatever area of your life, just start. Just take that first step.
Keep taking steps forward, keep taking action no matter what.
Many people experience a lot of fear in taking that first step in a new activity, habit, work, dream or goal or taking continued steps when things get really dark or hard.
The greatest antidote to fear is action
Even the tiniest bit of action will start to offset fear. Massive amounts of action will drive courage and change.
Regardless of any fear you may have that may be holding you back from going out there and going for it, or continuing on the journey, my challenge to you is to simply step up to the plate and just give it a go.
You can do it.
Humans are amazing creatures.
Just start, it is all you have to do...... just start.
I think you will surprise yourself. I surprise myself with what changes in my psychology and energy every time.
One of my favorite quotes of all time which I keep of as this constant reminder:
“Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it.
Boldness has genius, power and magic in it!"
(From William Hutchinson Murray (1913-1996), from his 1951 book entitled The Scottish Himalayan Expedition, the final couplet attributed to Goethe is in fact, from a man called John Anster, inspired by Goethe’s “Faust”).
I hope you take massive and continued action towards your happiness and dreams.
